In Response to the NIU Tragedy

CMHS extends its deepest sympathies to the members of the Northern Illinois University campus in the aftermath of its terrible tragedy. CMHS also sends its support and deepest felt prayers and wishes to our colleagues at NIU's Counseling and Student Development Center who will be ablely responding to the NIU community for some time to come.

CMHS assures the UConn campus community that it is present and active on our campus acting in as many ways possible to provide preventive services to students, staff, and faculty so that we may hopefully never know such terrible events. Please be assured that the Staff of CMHS are grateful members of the UConn community and are proud of the values, services, and standards of our campuses. Our most heartfelt thoughts are with our fellow NIU friends and colleagues at this time.

Please read CMHS's website for information for Faculty and Staff, the Distressed Student Handbook, information for Parents, and our Emergency Information. Find out how you can be part of the responsive network on the UConn campus. These events are not entirely preventable, but we can each do our part to recognize the signs of distress and concern and contact the appropriate individuals on the UConn campus. Thank you!
